A few steps away from Geneva railway station and the Manor department stores' lies a place that combines culinary authenticity and modern design: Jia Wei (佳味). Since its opening in 2013, the small, elegant restaurant has become an insider tip for fans of Chinese cuisine. Since 2025, Jia Wei has been at its new location on Rue de Temple. The ChinaFoods team met the makers of Jia Wei - and was inspired by their ideas, flavours and new dishes. Behind Jia Wei are Sunny and Daniel - two people with a great passion for hospitality and Chinese cookery.
"We want to create a place that feels modern but is deeply rooted," explains Sunny. Jia Wei stands for a contemporary interpretation of Chinese cuisine, served in a warm, almost living room-like ambience. The two draw inspiration from classic recipes, local ingredients and their own history - they cook what they love themselves.
Guests cannot expect a standardised Chinese menu, but a culinary experience with plenty of personal touches. "Our dishes are well thought out and tell stories," says Daniel. It's not just about the food - it's about the experience. This also includes the intimate setting: the restaurant is small, quiet and stylishly furnished - a fresh place full of culinary delights in the centre of the city.
Yes - and many of them are homemade. They are particularly popular:
- Homemade pasta
- Handmade dim sum
- Seasonal flavours and menus
The flavours at Jia Wei are strongly influenced by Sichuan cuisine - known for its spiciness, depth and variety. At the same time, many ingredients come from local producers, which guarantees freshness and regionality. This interplay makes every dish exciting and strengthens our guests' trust in our cuisine.
Jia Wei is the perfect place for anyone who wants to travel with their palate: Foodies, explorers and culture vultures. Guests experience bold flavours, a warm atmosphere and dishes with soul and history - served with genuine warmth in a stylish setting.
With great vigour, Jia Wei has created a new menu that boldly interprets classic recipes - and surprises in the process. The new dishes rely on home-made components, regional ingredients and intense flavours, especially from Sichuan cuisine.
The new menus include the following creations:
