Tradition you can touch: On 21 September, YEN'S Restaurant Zurich will be transformed into a stage for Chinese cuisine, culture and art. Together with the China Foods Alliance, host Yen invites you to a very special Sunday brunch - accompanied by Olympic champion Donghua Li and numerous cultural activities. "We bring people together - with real stories, flavours and encounters," says co-organiser and managing director Yen from Yen's Restaurant.
China Foods Alliance met Yen in the run-up to the event and talked about the handling of the culinary heritage and the event.
We are very proud to be able to serve up a piece of culinary heritage and culinary gems from the Middle Kingdom - it means a lot to us to be able to accompany our guests on a true voyage of discovery to the Far East.
We preserve our culinary tradition by preparing our favourite dishes, which we have known since childhood, again and again with joy and enthusiasm, be it within the family or as a team meal. There are special dishes that we also like to prepare on festive days such as Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year or Mid Autumn Festival.
We make Chinese cuisine accessible to the local public by mentioning our highlights on our website and during service; we also offer changing gourmet menus that are both traditional and have a modern twist.
A beautiful mix like the Yin & Yang philosophy: classic and timelessly beautiful but also elegant and modern.
As far as our ingredients are concerned, we attach great importance to freshness, quality and continuity; our bestsellers among the dishes based on Chinese cuisine are our duck dishes, namely YEN'S "Hong Kong by Night".
Here the guest enjoys with all his senses, the crispy-juicy duck meat is served with the house hoisin sauce on a hot plate, fragrant and sizzling / but also YEN'S Shanghai House with the spicy beef and vegetable mix in a hot pot is a poem / one of my all time favourites among the starters are the dim sum steamed dumplings with filling and dipping sauce
From a culinary point of view, there will be a potpourri and fireworks of flavour compositions starting with a small typical Chinese snack for the small appetite; this will be followed by an interactive preparation of spring rolls with filling à la Yen, which we will then enjoy as an aperitif with a fine Prosecco Cüpli and as a highlight there will be a feast with exclusive dishes from the land of dawn - as China is also called.
The beauty of this is the idea of sharing is caring: each guest draws from the golden mean of the dishes from the celebration set and has the opportunity to taste as yet undiscovered flavours and spices. In the best of company, this creates interesting table conversations that are unique. We look forward to every single guest and welcome you all to YEN'S!
Yen and her husband have been running YEN'S Restaurant in Zurich as head chefs with passion and dedication since 2011. In addition to dishes from China, fresh handmade sushi and Vietnamese delicacies are served. Every day, the host couple Yen is on hand with enthusiasm, ideas and diligence to conjure up more than just a few Asian delicacies for their guests.
