A Hanfu meeting with Chinese dance rhythms & painting and a sumptuous Chinese feast.

Wang Yutong, 26.08.2025

Immersive Chinese-style brunch - wear Hanfu, enjoy Chinese dance, paint together, taste Chinese flavours and embark on a cultural journey through millennia. Like an unfolding scroll of Far Eastern aesthetics, the Zurich Asia Restaurant is transformed into a "Jiangnan oasis of Chinese elegance". With Hanfu, Chinese dance, communal painting and authentic Chinese cuisine, it invites you to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the grace and warmth of the Chinese art of living.
📅 When: Sunday, 21 September 2025, 10:00 - 14:00h
📍 Location: Zurich Asia Restaurant
💫 Event theme: Culture - Cuisine - Art

Highlight 1: Put on Hanfu and step into old paintings in seconds

You don't need to bring your own outfit! A selection of exquisite hanfu is available on site: from flowing high-waisted ruqun (traditional hanfu skirt) and elegant beizi (cross-collar overjacket) to splendid Ming-style robes. Each piece is skilfully crafted and rich in elegant patterns. Matching accessories such as hairpins, fans and oil paper umbrellas complete the experience.

After getting dressed, it's off to the photo spots with ink painting screens and red lanterns - each photo looks like an antique work of art and makes you the eye-catcher of the Sunday.
Immerse yourself in the world of Chinese traditions

Highlight 2: Chinese dance - poetry in every gesture

When the sounds of the guzheng (zither) and erhu (two-stringed violin) are heard, dancers perform and fill the room with Far Eastern grace. They weave the mood of Chinese painting into their movements. If you feel like it, you can even learn simple dance gestures and feel the softness and power of Chinese dance for yourself.

Highlight 3: Painting together - joy with brush and ink

It's not your skill that counts here, but the joy of creating. Collective ink painting: a collective work of art is created on a large roll of rice paper in the centre of the restaurant. Each guest can add clouds, mountains, flowers or birds. In the end, everything comes together to form a shared story - a memory that is worth far more than a single picture.

Highlight 4: Chinese cuisine - warmth for the stomach and heart

The food is shared family-style and every dish is prepared with love.

🌟Start: Vegetable rolls, osmanthus cake, served with refreshing chrysanthemum iced tea
🌟 Intermediate course: Freshly wrapped spring rolls - crispy and flavourful
🌟 Main courses: slow-braised Yangzhou lion's head meatballs, fragrant Cantonese fried rice, stir-fried vegetables with mushrooms
🌟Final: Creamy black sesame ice cream or sweet red bean paste with mandarin zest

The dishes do not focus on complexity, but on the original flavours and classic Chinese seasoning. This creates a feeling of "coming together" with every bite.
A culinary journey and cooking together await visitors
